Town Center in Quezon City. As  of the month of July, the brand has renovated its stores at TriNoma Mall in Quezon City and Ortigas Park in Pasig City.

No doubt, the brand’s expansion may be attributed to the fact that relationships remain at the heart of everything The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® does as it partners with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and REAL Life Foundation through the Caring Cup Global Charity Program, the brand’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Invites All To Visit The Kiddie Enterprise Fair

At a time when the local economy is considered fertile ground for business, many Filipinos are seizing the opportunity to build their own enterprises. Technology now allows for individuals to buy and sell products from the convenience of their own smartphones, information is readily available on the internet, and millenials are more assertive about their individual capacities and proactive in achieving their dreams.

As we continue to work towards a greater country, it is not only critical that we ride trends as they come; it is also very integral to inculcate in every Filipino fundamental values that will aid the growth of our nation. This foundation can, and should be, built early on in the life of an individual.

With this in mind, Brew Your Best Year, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®’s community for encouraging customers to be the best versions of themselves, put together a Business Bootcamp for Kids. Designed to teach kids the basics of business in an interactive and experiential way, it is a two-part activity that aspires to mold the youth into becoming the next generation of entrepreneurs who will continue to pave the way for a stronger economy.

For the first part of the bootcamp, Coffee Bean Kids underwent an Entrepreneurship Workshop facilitated by their partner institution, The Ultimate Learning Accelerator (TULA). During the workshop, the kids learned the foundational knowledge and skills needed to start their own small businesses. To provide an avenue where the kids can apply their learnings, the Business Bootcamp will culminate with a Kiddie Enterprise Fair. During the fair, the Coffee Bean Kids will be selling food and retail items with one goal in mind: to create successful business ventures and return their parents’ investments through their earnings.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® invites everyone to support the Coffee Bean Kids during their first business venture at the Kiddie Enterprise Fair on September 3, 2016, Saturday! The event will take place from 11AM-6PM at the garden area in front of their Bonifacio High Street store. The brand will also be selling their teas at a special rate and promises exciting surprises for all attendees.

If the lyrics above sounds all too familiar to you, that’s because it’s Olaf’s Summer Song in Frozen. Twinkle just discovered who Olaf, Elsa, and Anna is… and well, she loves watching them sing their songs all day… and I can’t get them out of my head.

Hibiscus Lemonade + Starbucks Teavana Launch

In a Summer mood, I re-created one of my favorite Starbucks drinks when I was still a barista (how many years ago was that?!). I believe it was then called a Starbucks Refreshers Passion Lemonade but today we’ll call it Hibiscus Lemonade …since I made it using Starbucks new full leaf tea sachets called Teavana. It was tart, and sweet and fragrant and refreshing. But I was glad I am drinking this in September instead of the middle of Summer heat ’cause well, it’s hotter then, and  I’d probably melt like Olaf.

Hibiscus has always been one of my favorite flavors, besides Mint, because it’s floral and fruity at the same time. Starbucks Teavana Hibiscus has a beautiful deep fuchsia color and a slightly tart flavor. It has bright, juicy papaya and mango notes that is combined with citrus lemongrass for a natural, caffeine-free blend. It was the perfect thing to combine with Lemonade, my all time favorite Summer and non-Summer drink.

So how did I found out about Starbucks Teavana? I attended the launch a few days ago with my peanutbutter. Read on below to find out how it was, what the other tea variants are, what the new drinks and food items are and how the Starbucks Cards for Fall look!

Hibiscus Lemonade for One

Ingredients
  • 1 Starbucks Teavana Hibiscus Full Leaf Tea Sachet
  • 1 mug of water
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 tbsp Sugar (or more depending on how sweet you want it to be)
  • Lemon Slices for garnish
  • lots of ice
Directions
  1. Steep Starbucks Starbucks Teavana Hibiscus Full Leaf Tea Sachet in a mug of water for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove tea sachet and dissolve sugar in tea. Chill in the fridge or let cool into room temperature.
  3. Combine with lemon juice and stir in lots of ice.
  4. Serve with lemon slices as garnish.

 

Starbucks Teavana Launch

It was surprising to see Starbucks dressed up in fancy Summer colors and elegantly furnished with transparent plastic chairs and table during the launch of Starbucks Teavana. We are used to seeing the woody, dark interiors that stirs in us emotions that coffee does — classic and mysterious.

I guess it’s about time we see Starbucks not just as destination for coffee but for tea as well. Starbucks Teavana is Tea Re-imagined… it gives us a playful notion of what we can do to our teas. Drink it hot, cold or play with it. It’s up to us. The important thing is that we enjoy it…

The launch started with lunch since we were there at noon time…

We had Beef Pastrami and Monterey Jack Cheese on Croissant Baguette and Chicken Salad on Croissant Baguette

Spinach Lasagna and Chicken Cannelloni

Purple Yam Cheesecake, Calamansi Cheesecake, and Triple Chocolate Truffle Cake

French Macarons

And these three new food items for this season. First up is this SINGLE-ORIGIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE (₱65) made with Malagos Chocolate and coco sugar. It’s a soft and chewy chocolate cookie with raw cacao nibs for texture. It is so good and I can imagine it’ll be perfect paired with a good cup of coffee.

BANANA CHOCOLATE PUFF (₱80) – A golden brown, flaky and buttery pastry filled with decadent Belgian chocolate and sliced bananas

SPINACH TOMATO FRITTATA WRAP (₱165)A hearty whole wheat pita bread filled with scrumptious spinach, egg and tomatoes that’s best served warm

Starbucks Teavana Full Leaf Tea Sachet

After lunch was when we got to try four flavors of the new Starbucks Teavana Full Leaf Tea Sachets which are: Youthberry, Hibiscus, Emperor’s Cloude and Mist, and English Breakfast. You may enjoy a new tea experience in stores or in the comfort of your own home.

Here is where we lined up to try out the teas and get to know them with the help of our favorite Starbucks partners.

YOUTHBERRY is inspired by super fruits, acai fruit is blended with tropical pineapple and mango flavors with high quality white tea, balanced by rosehips and tart green apple.

HIBISCUS has bright, juicy papaya and mango combined with citrus lemongrass for a naturally caffeine-free blend. Hibiscus flowers lend the tea a slight tartness and extraordinary deep fuchsia color.

EMPEROR’S CLOUDS & MIST is exclusively harvested during the month of April and grown on the steep, windy slopes of Huangshan Mountain at 3,500 feet above sea level, this tea has a rich body and a naturally sweet flavor.

ENGLISH BREAKFAST is a handcrafted blend of Indian Assam, Sri Lankan Ceylon and Chinese black tea. This tastes great with or without milk.

Aside from the full leaf tea sachets, Starbucks also introduced Starbucks Teavana Handcrafted Beverages that are quite the innovation because they are unique and with bold, layered flavors. I must say it is handcrafted the way only Starbucks can.

Let me start with my favorite, the Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls (Tall – ₱ 130|Grande – ₱ 145|Venti – ₱ 160). This refreshing beverage combines Hibiscus Starbucks Teavana tea and bursting pearls of real pomegranate juice for a tart kick of flavor. Pomegranate juice is a good source of antioxidants.

Next is the Iced Shaken Black Tea with Ruby Grapefruit and Honey (Tall – ₱ 130|Grande – ₱ 145|Venti – ₱ 160). It combines a traditional western black tea experience with a creative twist that is delicious  iced with bites of pomelo fruit, grapefruit and honey for a touch of added sweetness. This beverage contains star ruby grapefruit, which is a good source of vitamins A and C and is rich in bioflavonoids and antioxidants.

The last is the Matcha & Espresso Fusion (Tall – ₱ 155|Grande – ₱ 170|Venti – ₱ 185) which can be enjoyed hot or iced. Starbucks fine Matcha powder layered with milk and Espresso Roast creates a beautiful layered beverage and is an inventive combination of coffee and tea. Matcha is full of catechins, which are some of the most potent and beneficial antioxidants.

Vigan Eats: Cafe Lita, Vigan Empanada, & Sinanglaoan

I still have a lot to share with you about our Ilocos Roadtrip. I don’t think I’ve posted half of it. Aside from dinner at Café Uno & Kusina Felecitas, we were able to try some authentic Vigan eats as we went around this beautiful city.

Our stop at Cafe Lita was because our feet were already tired from walking and we already needed a caffeine fix after buying Bagnet and Longganisa. The word cafe was a sight to behold at that moment. We didn’t think twice and went in.

You simply don’t go to Vigan and not have an authentic Vigan Empanada. CJ’s Empanada is just a minute’s walk away from Hotel Luna. I love that their menu is composed of the cheapest empanada that they can make at ₱10 to the most expensive double double at ₱65.

What we love about their empanadas?? It’s super tasty and crispy. It’s also served freshly cooked of course!

Eventhough I make such delicious Sinanglaw, peanutbutter wanted to try Vigan’s version. And so this was as last stop as we bid goodbye to Vigan.

What we love about their Sinanglao: the soup is clear yet it’s very tasty. It has tendons and  blood too!!!

The 2017 Starbucks Planner

Every year, right before Christmas, there’s comes a tradition that makes Christmas much much more exciting. It makes me look forward to planning the celebrations, occasions, and all other other thing that life has instore for me the coming year. It’s nothing else but the Limited Edition Starbucks Planner, of course!

The 2017 Starbucks Planner has come and it is more elegant and sophisticated as before. This year, the planner is crafted not only with the hand but also with the heart…

Two Designs To Choose From

There two designs to choose from this year:

The Siren, which comes in a blue pouch with a golden mermaid tail in front.

And the Coffee, which comes in the brown pouch with the Starbucks coffee mug in front.

Both designs are to die for and both comes with an erasable pen, watercolor designed pages, magnetic bookmark, stickers,– and hopefully, the coupons!

As usual, I want to get both designs but I’m yearning more towards the Siren — I think that design is awesome!

How To Get The Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee Planner 2017

  • A customer can avail of a Starbucks® Christmas Traditions Promo card from November 2, 2016 to January 8, 2017 with no purchase required.
  • One sticker is awarded for each Starbucks® handcrafted beverage purchase.  Holder must accumulate a total of eighteen (18) stickers, to redeem one (1) Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee 2017 Planner.
  • Customer must present the Starbucks® Christmas Traditions card to the barista upon purchase to get the corresponding number of stickers.
  • In case any of the Holiday featured beverages are not available (ex. Toffee Nut Latte), customers can substitute it with any of the remaining holiday featured beverages (ex. Santa Hat Dark Mocha or Peppermint Mocha).  Should all three (3) not be available, only then can customers substitute with any espresso-based or Frappuccino® blended beverage of their choice.

A combination of up to two (2) promo cards will be allowed, provided that the 9 featured plus 9 core beverages have been purchased. Excess stickers for combined cards will be forfeited.
  • Once all stickers are completed, customer must submit the Starbucks® Christmas Traditions Card/s to redeem one (1) Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee 2017 Planner from any Starbucks Coffee store in the Philippines.
  • Tampering with and/or transferring of stickers to obtain the required number of stickers will render all promo cards null and void.

Starbucks Christmas Grand Launch 2016

It was indeed the return of a merry tradition at Starbucks as they usher in the season with the Starbucks Christmas Grand Launch last saturday. The launch was open to the public but we got to experience it first. We were given a passport at the entrance which we have to have stamped on every Cheer Station to receive a surprise gift.

Cheer Station 1 is the Christmas Selfie Challenge. I rarely do selfies but I’m not one to pass up a challenge.. so.. there I am holding the new Starbucks Christmas Beverage…

The Toffee Nut Latte and the Peppermint Mocha are, of course, available too! I’m sure you’re already familiar with them. Toffee Nut Latte is made up of steamed milk, espresso and toffee nut syrup, topped off with whipped cream and beloved toffee nut sprinkles. While Peppermint Mocha is a chocolaty coffee beverage highlighted with peppermint notes which brings up memories of candy canes and Christmas festivities. Topped off with whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and red and white candy bits. (Short – ₱160| Tall – ₱170| Grande – ₱185| Venti– ₱200)

Cheer Station 3 is Flavors of Christmas where I got to play a memory match the photo game. Got two out of three and won myself a small apron.

Cheer Station 4 is Celebrate our Beloved Christmas Blend — I got to try Christmas Blend brewed through Chemex which made it lighter and has a clean finish. Oh, how I miss this coffee!

Cheer Station 5 is Crafted by Hand and Heart where in we got to show our artistic talent by designing a Starbucks Christmas card for our loved ones. Check out my design… cute ba?

Since I was able to have my passport all stamped, I won myself a Starbucks notepad! Yay!!!

You know what else I found out during the Spark The Spirit party? The 2017 Starbucks Planner comes in two sizes pala!

I can see lots of animals with this year’s Christmas merch. There are polar bears, penguins and foxes. Lot’s of beads too! Some of the tumblers have this snow globe effect — super duper cute!

HOLIDAY STARBUCKS CARDS

The holiday collection features warm and vibrant designs to usher the colors of the season. This year’s Snowman and Holiday Tree Cards have a backdrop of wintery scenes in a hand-painted finish, while the Happy Holidays Card decked with mistletoes and holiday holly will be offered for the first time here in the Philippines.

2016 RED CUP CARD

The Red Cup Card comes with a Kraft sleeve carrier mimicking an authentic cafe Red Cup. It’s available for an initial consumable load amount of 1,000 per card

Starbucks Christmas Food Items

CHOCOLATE FUDGE CHEESECAKE (₱140/slice| ₱1,550/whole) is pure indulgence! It’s a dark chocolate cheesecake loaded with chocolate fudge bar, roasted walnuts and chocolate chips.

SINGLE-ORIGIN CHOCOLATE CAKE MADE WITH VENEZUELAN CACAO BEANS (₱150/slice| ₱1,350/whole) is a milky and light vanilla sponge cake layered with creamy milk chocolate and finished with milk chocolate frosting made with Venezuelan cacao beans.

CHICKEN AND TURKEY WITH CRANBERRY SAUCE ON CROISSANT BAGUETTE (₱170) – Slow-cooked chicken and turkey marinated in Christmas spices, thick cranberry sauce, and sweet and salty apple stuffing on a light and buttery croissant baguette.

The CROQUE MONSIEUR ON CROISSANT BAGUETTE (₱170) is my favorite. A flaky butter croissant baguette filled with slow-roasted honey ham, Fontina and Emmental cheese then topped with béchamel sauce and grated cheese.

The CRANBERRY BLISS BAR (₱75) is as tasty as it is gorgeous. Made with sweet cream cheese icing, tart dried cranberries, chopped pistachio, and then drizzled with white chocolate.

CHOCOLATE CRUFFIN (₱85) Light chocolate cream makes a luscious filling for this muffin- shaped croissant.  A sprinkling of cocoa powder completes this delectable treat.

TRIPLE CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE COOKIE (₱65) Delicious dark chocolate cookie that is crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside.

Little House of Cheesecake

Going after Twinkle around and about Pinto Art Museum has left us tired and in need of some refreshments. I needed a cup f coffee badly, my caffeine supply is depleting fast and I’m starting to feel a bit sleepy. Of course we wanted to try the local coffee shops and our feet took us to Little House of Cheesecake.

The place was homey and there were lots of books around to read while waiting. The staff were approachable and friendly. peanutbutter ordered their Pressed Coffee which was served immediately.

We both had Cheesecake in Jars (₱97). He had Blueberry and I had Strawberry to partner with the Clouded Coffee I ordered.

Ang tatlong bibe ay nag-order ng Monster Shakes!

Ykaie had the Happy Ferrero BanaNutella Project (₱197) which I had in the first photo above. It’s a choco banana shake that’s topped with wafer, banana slices, prestezel sticks, a chocolate covered popsicle, and one Ferrero Rocher.

Sis had the Twixted Caramel (₱197) which I’m assuming had Twix among the chocolate covered popsicle, marshmallow, pretzels and all other things on top of the shake.

Rome had the Monster Crazy Oreo Riot Milkshake (₱197) which had lots of oreo cookies along with chocolate covered popsicle, pretzels, and other chocolate stuff.

Twinkle enjoyed browsing through a Disney Frozen book….

Sadly, my Clouded Coffee never came. Apparently, their cotton candy maker had some problems. I just wished they told me sooner, I would’ve ordered a different drink. I left the store sleepy but I think the gang was pretty much happy with their orders specially Ykaie.

I slept on the way home.

One of the best things about January is that the indulgence never ends at Starbucks. We went through a Starbucks drive-thru on the way to my ILs  in Fairview last Friday. My mind must’ve been still asleep when we were ordering, (or I must’ve been subconciously craving) because instead of trying out one of these yummy concoctions, I ordered an Iced Mocha. It was one of the best Iced Mocha’s I’ve tried, btw.  Now that I’ve come to think about it, I should’ve ordered an Iced Salted Caramel Mocha Crumble instead! It’s of the Starbucks Espresso Confections 2017 drinks…

SALTED CARAMEL MOCHA CRUMBLE – That’s mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup combined with espresso and milk, topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, Starbucks Sea Salt topping and chocolate brownie bits. Every moch lover’s dream, I suppose. (Also available in iced and blended formats)

ICED CHESTNUT WHITE CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE – Chestnut flavor combined with white chocolate sauce and swirled into Starbucks signature espresso. Finished with whipped cream and chestnut drizzle. (Also available in hot and blended formats)

Starbucks also has new food items this January, and let me start with the three new core items..

Chicken Pot Pie (₱70) – a buttery and flaky crust filled with delicious creamy chicken then generously topped with mashed potato.

Longganisa Pandesal (₱95) – a soft and buttery bun with sautéed garlic longganisa filling. Best served warm.

Sausage Roll (₱95) – I love Starbucks’ sausage roll before and now it looks so much more delicious! Bratwurst sausage is layered with cheese sauce and honey Dijon mustard wrapped in flaky and buttery puff pastry dough

Pork Carnitas Wrap (₱160) – A whole wheat tortilla wrap filled with pork flakes, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and guacamole.

Farmer’s Ham and Emmental Cheese on French Baguette (₱160) – Ham, Emmental cheese and arugula with pickled Dijon on a crusty and chewy French baguette .

Chocolate Doughnut Eclair (₱55) – a classic glazed doughnut filled with chocolate cream.

Vanilla Doughnut Eclair (₱55) – a classic glazed doughnut filled with vanilla cream.

Purple Yam Cookies (₱50) – a chewy cookie with nuts and purple yam jam

Starbucks Summer Launch 2017

Summer is here and so are the new Starbucks Frappuccinos and other offerings launched through the Starbucks Summer Launch 2017 last Saturday at SM Mall of Asia. I’m sure it will make your Summer more exciting because one of our favorite Frappuccino is making a comeback this year.

The ROASTED MARSHMALLOW S’MORES FRAPPUCCINO BLENDED BEVERAGE  (Tall – ₱ 175| Grande ₱ 190|Venti– ₱ 205) is Ykaie’s favorite! It’s a vanilla-flavored Frappuccino layered with smooth marshmallow whipped cream, indulgent chocolate sauce, and graham crumble, then finished with even more whipped cream and more graham crumble on top. Truly a camper’s dream.

Ykaie loves these kinds of activities so off she went to all the booths. First up was this POP’ZEL COFFEE FRAPPUCCINO booth, where she got to try the new Frappuccino flavor.

It’s June! Have you noticed? Time really flies. I can’t believe Ykaie will be back to school next week. Mornings will start much earlier for me –working out,  cooking breakfast, preparing baon, waking up Ykaie and having her ready for school. But before the chaos happens, I’ll make sure I’ll get a much deserved ME time and try out one of Starbucks’ latest and greatest…

Prepare to go bananas with the BANANA SPLIT MOCHA FRAPPUCCINO  (Tall – ₱ 175| Grande ₱ 190|Venti– ₱ 205). It’s Mocha Frappuccino blended with banana puree and layered on top with both fluffy Strawberry whipped cream and regular whipped cream, a rich chocolate drizzle, and crunchy waffle cone pieces.

I wasn’t a fan of Irish Creme then but I wanna try the IRISH CREAM COFFEE PUDDING FRAPPUCCINO (Tall – ₱ 175| Grande ₱ 190|Venti– ₱ 205) which is a fresh take on a classic coffee beverage. I used to be crazy about Starbucks Multigrain Bagel which I always eat on my first break when I’m an opener at the store. I toast it and smother it in butter and jam and it tastes so good and it really makes my day.

And you know what.. it kinda looks like this WHOLE WHEAT BAGEL (₱ 55), a New York-style bagel made with linseeds, rye and soy grits, corn semolina, and oats.

This is gonna be on my breakfast list — even though I am trying to avoid carbs… LOL!

Oh look! They also have BAGEL BITES FILLED WITH CREAM CHEESE (₱ 95/ 3 pieces).  A mini herbed bagel stuffed with generous amount of cream cheese. I can imagine sinking my teeth into one of these babies.

New Breakfast Sandwiches

Mushrooms are love! They pack a whole lot of flavor and they’re healthy. Mushrooms and cheese?? Yes, please to this FOUR MUSHROOM AND EMMENTAL CHEESE ON BOULE BREAD (₱ 130). It has fresh button, portobello, shiitake and oyster mushroom and Emmental cheese on a soft and crusty Boule bread.

Since I ma on a health kick, I would probably order this together with the Whole Wheat Bagel.

TURKEY HAM, EGG WHITE AND FONTINA CHEESE ON WHOLE WHEAT BREAD (₱ 130) Slow-roasted turkey ham, fluffy herbed white omelette and nutty Fontina cheese on soft and chewy whole wheat bread.

peanutbutter however would love the SPAM JALAPEÑO, EGG AND GOUDA CHEESE ON SUPERGRAIN BAGEL (₱ 130). He’s not much on a health kick but he loves SPAM.

Starbucks Teavana Frozen Teas + New Food Items

Remember last year? When I attended the the launch of Starbucks Teavana? I was very excited because of the three Starbucks Teavana Handcrafted Beverages that they launched along with it.

This year, Starbucks is taking it up a notch by launching Teavana frozen teas. I think these drinks are perfect for people like me who are trying to avoid caffeine and creamy drinks . When you are trying to avoid both and want an ice blended drink, the only choice you have is the Mango Tea Frappuccino. Well, not anymore.

Let me introduce you to the two Teavana frozen tea flavors:

TEAVANA FROZEN CHAMOMILE TEA WITH KYOHO GRAPE AND ALOE (Tall – ₱ 150| Grande ₱ 165|Venti– ₱ 180) – is made with  Starbucks signature Chamomile tea, honey white grape puree, bits of aloe, and whole Kyoho grapes. This drink has a very unique cool, sweet, and refreshing flavor that just calms you out. If you’re wondering what Kyoho Grapes are, it’s “Giant mountain grapes” from Japan,  which are skinned, pitted and left whole to maintain their texture.

TEAVANA FROZEN HIBISCUS TEA WITH POMEGRANATE PEARLS (Tall – ₱ 150| Grande ₱ 165|Venti– ₱ 180) This is very much like the Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls from last year. It’s bursting with Hibiscus, tropical papaya and mango, and hints of cinnamon and lemongrass from Starbucks signature Hibiscus tea. The pomegranate pearls complement the tea with the lightly sweet and tart flavor of real pomegranate juice.

**Both are available in Iced Shaken format

Since it doesn’t have caffeine, I let Twinkle try it the other day and she loved it! Now I think fruity and floral flavors go well together.

NEW FOOD ITEMS

This month’s new food items is lve! Starting off with this Mango Float Cake which is made with moist and buttery cake then layered with creamy mango mousse and meringue, finished with mango buttercream icing. It’s like a Mango sansrival and cake combined together and IT. IS. THE. BOMB.

If you’re on a health kick, you’d  be happy too because of the Arugula Pasta Salad with Creamy Parmesan and the Oriental Vermicelli Chicken Salad.

The Arugula Pasta Salad with Creamy Parmesan comes with al dente tri-color fussili pasta, fresh tomatoes, black olives and bell pepper on a bed of arugula with creamy parmesan dressing. I love arugula because of its peppery taste and it gives this pasta salad such a nice layer of flavor.

The Oriental Vermicelli Chicken Salad comes with Vermicelli noodles, crunchy vegetables, crispy fried wanton strips, and sesame chicken slices you can toss together in oriental dressing.

Both pasta and noodle salads are yum!

Penne Pesto with Mushroom as the name suggests, this is penne pasta sautéed with button mushroom and creamy pesto sauce.

Classic Beef Lasagna – A Harmony of savory meat, creamy bechamel sauce and lasagna baked with mozzarella cheese.

Maple Leaf Starbucks Card_

Aside from the new drinks and food items, Starbucks also launched a new design for its Starbucks Card. Available for an initial activation amount of ₱1,000, the Maple Leaf Starbucks Card comes in four colorful options.

Starbucks Summer Launch 2018

We just got back from our first vacation of the season and Summer heat is all over the metro. What kept me cool the next day after getting back are the new Summer drinks from Starbucks! How did I get ahold of it? I attended the Starbucks Summer Launch 2018.  Last year’s event is all about flavor combinations (Check out Starbucks Summer Launch 2017 here). This year, it’s all about emotions… #GetTheFeels. It’s about getting the feels of two new unapologettically bold flavors.

Guys, meet TEA-RAMISU FRAPPUCCINO BLENDED BEVERAGE and MIDNIGHT MOCHA FRAPPUCCINO BLENDED BEVERAGE!

The Starbucks Tea-ramisu Frappuccino (Tall – ₱ 165| Grande ₱ 180|Venti– ₱ 195) brings a new spin on the classic dessert ‘Tiramisu’ by combining the creamy taste of cheesecake with the earthy notes of Japanese matcha. To create this wonder, rich green tea is blended with whipped mascarpone cheese to create a beautiful marbled effect, finished with a swirl of whipped cream and sprinkle of green tea cookie crumble.

The Starbucks Midnight Mocha Frappuccino (Tall – ₱ 165| Grande ₱ 180|Venti– ₱ 195) infuses black cocoa powder into Starbucks Coffee with a blend of java chip and a middle layer of fluffy whipped cream. The monochromatic beverage is topped with a dash of black cocoa powder to bring back those oh-so-sweet memories.

I like both drinks but Twinkle loved every sip of the Tea-ramisu Frappuccino. I’m guessing because it’s sweet, cheesy, and creamy.

NEW FOOD ITEMS

There were new food items during the launch too. We got to try two of them.

My pistachio lover of a husband loved the PISTACHIO DOME (₱175|₱1575), creamy pistachio and white chocolate mousse over layers of vanilla and chocolate cake finished with whipped cream and chopped Pistachio nuts.

While I, the chocolate-lover prefers the CHOCOLATE BABKA (Non-Kosher) (₱105), a buttery and sweet bread filled with real Belgian chocolate. This is so so good with the Tea-Ramisu Frappuccino. Promise!

MAPLE PECAN DANISH (₱65) Light and flaky Danish pastry filled with delicious maple cream and topped with chopped roasted pecan.

SPINACH MUSHROOM DUTCH PANCAKE (₱175) Paper thin pancake filled with creamy spinach and sautéed mushroom.

We had fun!!! The Summer theme really made us feel we’re at the beach inside the mall. Just like last year, we were given a passport at the entrance and we have to go through all of the activities to have it stamped. Once complete, we get a prize.

El Union Coffee: Getting a Taste of La Union Brew

El Union Coffee's The Dirty White

After such a satisfying lunch at  L.U. BBQ, we wanted coffee. We heard about El Union Coffee and so we drove a good 15 minutes to San Juan. El Union Coffee is located near the beach in the surf side of La Union. It’s a small hiptser coffee shop that’s open and intimate — accommodates around 10-20 people.

After finding a table, we decided to order. It’s Summer and it’s noon — we were sweating, we decided to order iced coffees. peanutbutter♥ and I had The Dirty White (₱120) , a creamy, dreamy Iced Latté that cooled me down against the La Union heat.

Sis ordered the Iced Chocolate (₱120) since she’s never really a fan of coffee. It’s bittersweet, rich, and creamy. I guess that’s why Twinkle loved it the moment she tried it.

Ykaie wouldn’t let the Indoor S’mores (₱160) pass her by without tasting it, so we ordered a small one that’s good for 1-2. Their s’mores is good, I swear I can taste butter in it.

I’ve passed by Zoo Coffee in Megamall before and I found it cute and interesting. I didn’t have time to stop and have coffee at the time so I just made a metal note to go and check it out with the family at a later date. However, since I’m from the north part of Manila, I wasn’t able to do so. So I’m glad that Zoo Coffee finally came to the north and opened it’s doors at Ayala Malls Vertis North last week.

There was a food demo during the event where volunteers get to experience how to prepare several items on the menu. We were able to try and taste this Mango Waffle (₱195)….

…this Caramel Honeybread (₱225)  and Barbecue Hotdog (₱165)….

and this Churro Waffle  (₱140), one of the new waffle flavors on a buy one get one promo in partnership with Booky as a way of celebrating the opening of our this third branch.

After the food demo, I got to try this Caramel Frappe (₱165) which was served in an animal-print cup.

I paired it with this Cheesy Hotdog (₱175).

Zoo Coffee also sells merchandise such as tumblers and mugs which are animal printed or has an animal printed into it.

I’m planning to be back soon with the family and try their bingsu, pastas and sandwiches. Twinkle and Ykaie will absolutely love the ambience

Starbucks Yogurt Frappuccinos and New Starbucks Card

 

Starbucks is bringing on the fruit this July — and also the yogurt! Two of the things that I love. Just leave it to them to come up with delicious Frappuccino flavors. One of them is a returning favorite which I kept on drinking the last time they offered it .

It’s called  Acai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino (Tall – ₱ 165 | Grande ₱ 180 | Venti– ₱ 195). This drink brings together the tanginess of the acai berry with cooling yogurt and juicy mixed berry pearls. The beverage is topped with milk foam for a light finishing touch.

The other one is the Apricot & Peach Yogurt Frappuccino (Tall – ₱ 165 | Grande ₱ 180 | Venti– ₱ 195) which is a new drink. It starts with a layer of aromatic peach jelly and real white peach bits at the bottom followed by tangy yogurt blend and a topped with apricot sauce.

These two flavors are gonna be available starting tomorrow, July 24 at all Starbucks branches.

The Magic and Joy of A Starbucks Christmas 2018

So Halloween is finally over, you guys, and now it’s time to feel the magic and joy of the incoming Christmas. At Starbucks, welcoming the season is serious business. Of course, Ykaie and I had to join them.

After all, welcoming the season with delicious beverages that deliver the holiday cheer in each sip has become the tradition. But beyond their cozy red cups, it brews something even more heartwarming. This year at Starbucks, the blend is the magic – it’s where all the things we love about the season come together to make our Christmas experiences extra special.

Starbucks hosted a grand Christmas launch with a magical blend of nostalgic traditions, merry activities, and festive food at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

Aside from two giant nutcrackers which stood at the lighted entrance of the enchanting Christmas world, we were also welcomed by a massive Christmas tree made with Red Cups and adorable Starbucks Bearista Bears, as well as a Starbucks Express train that circled around the Christmas village.

Sip A Cup Of Magic

In the spirit of Christmas traditions, Starbucks is serving up delightful beverages for the season… two are returning favorites (hello, toffee nut crunch latte!) and one is simply something you must try…

TOFFEE NUT CRUNCH LATTE (Tall – ₱ 175 | Grande ₱ 190 | Venti ₱ 205)
Ring in the Christmas season with the subtle caramelly sweetness of Starbucks Toffee Nut Crunch Latte, topped with whipped cream and toffee crunch. The rich buttery toffee flavors and aroma of toasted nuts make the perfect partner for Starbucks espresso roast.

PEPPERMINT MOCHA (Tall – ₱ 175 | Grande ₱ 190 | Venti ₱ 205)
Indulge in the traditional holiday flavors of Peppermint Mocha, a combination of espresso and steamed milk sweetened with flavors of chocolate and peppermint. Topped with whipped cream, mocha drizzle and candy cane pieces, this festive beverage is just too good to resist!

SNOWY CRANBERRY WHITE MOCHA (Tall – ₱ 175 | Grande ₱ 190 | Venti ₱ 205)

The Starbucks Christmas tradition won’t be complete without these festive christmas food items that goes great with the holiday drinks…

BAKED BURRITO (₱185) – A tortilla bowl filled with a heart and flavorful Mexican flavor rice dish.

CHOCOLATE OAT CHEESECAKE  (₱195/ slice|₱2,145/ whole)
Layers of creamy dark chocolate, milk chocolate and vanilla white cheesecake on a chocolate oat crust.

VANILLA BLUEBERRY CAKE  (₱175/ slice|₱1,575/ whole) – Layers of light vanilla cake and blueberry compote finished with milky cream frosting and blueberry cookie crumble. This is so good!

BAKED CHEESE TART  (₱75) – Buttery and flaky crust filled with velvety cream cheese and finished with sugar glazed drizzle. This was Ykaie’s favorite among the bunch.

And this was my favorite…CRANBERRY PISTACHIO TURKEY FLATBREAD  (₱105)
Cranberries and pistachio flatbread topped with chicken, turkey sausage, spinach and cheese.

Oh, and they have a Starbucks Bearista mascot this year too!

After feasting and posing with the bearista, Ykaie and I joined the activities they prepared. First up, we sang Christmas carols at the ‘Christ-Must Carol’ game station.

Ykaie joined the “Snowy Cranberry” game where they tossed toppings on the giant Snowy Cranberry Drinks.

She also scribbled her pledge to spread cheer and goodwill for the holidays on a larger-than-life Starbucks Red cup.

Christmas wishes were sent in a special mail box to santa….


We were also able to capture this holiday memory on a cool Snow Globe 360º photo booth that had a magical virtual snow effect.
